A platform to tackle one of humanity’s greatest challenges.

Together, Global Optimism and Amazon developed the Climate Pledge: a bold commitment for businesses to meet the Paris Agreement goals 10 years early. But this is no easy task, so we worked with both organizations to build a platform where content comes to life to inspire businesses to sign the pledge and chart their path to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

    Building for the future.

    The website’s design encapsulates a tone of optimism and change, with interactive elements that help relay the importance of the initiative for global players. We used rich, grainy textures and iconography that connect to the ambition of the project: creating a world where humans and nature live in harmony.

    To ensure that everyone can access and navigate the Climate Pledge site, we designed and developed it to fit WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines. Arrows were added to carousel components so keyboard users can navigate to content on the left and right. And so that audio content can be consumed by everyone, we attached transcripts and enabled captions on videos.

      The Climate Pledge platform is built to last, extending visitors’ foresight decades into the future. As signatories reach new milestones or commit to new goals, these developments become reflected in the “Our Progress” timelines—a living, breathing view of the actions that the world’s leading brands are taking to invest in our planet’s future.

      In addition to building the platform itself, we scripted, scored and animated an intro video that captures the ambition of the pledge and its signatories. And as the platform’s repository of information grows in volume, so too will it in variety: it will soon house our documentary-style series profiling signatories.

        Where can we sign?

        Our platform and content were built to inspire. And it worked: Upon launching the website we asked ourselves, "Do we have what it takes to make the pledge?" In the spirit of partnership and to lay the foundation for a better world, we signed the Climate Pledge in February 2020. Now, we’re encouraging our industry peers to take the baton and run with us— and should they decide to, we know where we can point them.
